At Charm City Integrative Health, we focus more on the therapeutic side of massage rather than relaxation. We believe massage should be considered a necessary part of your health and wellness plan as opposed to a pampering treat. Regular massage can decrease depression and anxiety, improve concentration, and enhance sleep quality. We also work with a lot of athletes of all levels to prepare for and/or recover from strenuous workouts, to ease soft tissue strains or injuries, and increase joint flexibility. Deep Tissue- treats specific Musculoskeletal complaints and relieves severe tension in the muscle and connective tissue. This style of massage addresses both the surface and deep layers of muscle but is designed to focus on the muscles located underneath the superficial muscles. Athletes, those who are involved in heavy physical activity, and people who sit at desks for long periods of time throughout the day respond very well to deep tissue.
Traditional Thai Massage– incorporates a combination of pressure points, energy meridian work, and yoga-like stretching for an invigorating and balancing experience. Because the therapist uses her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches, it is also referred to as Thai Yoga Massage or Lazy Man’s Yoga. Thai Massage differs from other massage modalities in that there is no oil used, that the practitioner uses a mat on the floor, and that the client remains comfortably clothed throughout the session. The benefits include: relaxation, stress reduction, increased energy, improved circulation, increased flexibility, improved range of motion, and a centered body and mind.
Cupping Therapy– pulls blood stagnation, lactic acid, and other metabolic wastes from the deeper layers of tissue. Glass cups are applied to the skin and create a vacuum which helps bring new blood to specific areas to help heal and repair tissue. This is a great treatment to use in conjunction with massage to help move stagnation in stubborn areas.
